Morgan L. Sykes is a writer with roots in Mississippi, Atlanta, and New York City. She is currently based in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Her work has appeared in the Cut, Intelligencer, NYMag.com, the Oxford American, and the Guardian. Subjects explored include the deployment of socially assistive, culturally specific robots for autistic schoolchildren in Qatar’s classrooms; an op-ed illuminating the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene; and an examination of what happens when disabled adults age out of social services.
She received her M.A. in Literary Reportage from New York University’s Arthur L. Carter’s Journalism Institute in 2018.
